You have to start learning Makaton with a Level 1 course (unless you've completed a Foundation or Beginners Workshop). On this course you'll learn stages 1, 2 and half of the additional core vocabulary signs and symbols, as well as a more in depth explanation about the Makaton language programme and its place in the signing world. You'll also learn tips for signing that will help as you continue through the levels
